Working together to create opportunities

Business conduct is ethical wherever it corresponds to the general principles of integrity and decency, and where the people we deal with perceive it to be right. At GVA we believe our responsibility is greater than simply complying with statutory rules and other regulations.

We expect our people to conduct themselves ethically in all of their business activities and in any situations that such activities entail. Supervisors must act as role models. Anyone working with external partners on behalf of GVA bears responsibility as a representative of the company. Ethical conduct also means understanding and complying with the spirit of our policies and refraining from any attempts at circumventing them.

Certification

In addition to successfully maintaining our corporate certification to ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO27001, OHSAS18001, Construction line, Achilles, Safe Contractor and CHAS, we have expanded the scope to include the service desk at our Keele Office to improve consistency across all our offices.

Data protection

The Data Protection Act 2018 came into effect in May 2018, to provide for the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Making provisions for the legislation included updating existing and introducing new policies and procedures, providing e-learning to all of our staff and providing specific training to staff who are directly affected by the requirements.

A year of change

Compliance worked with a number of teams to integrate and automate workflows for Money Laundering, conflict of interest and confidentiality into a new CRM system, provided by Salesforce, to be introduced in early 2019. Compliance also worked closely with management and support teams to prepare for the acquisition and smooth transition of GVA from EQT to Avison Young in early 2019.
