In 2018 there has been a noticeable shift in the public and business perception of climate change and the effects that we are having on our environment. The impacts of the BBC’s Blue Planet 2, the IPCC’s report on global warming and the campaign to reduce single use plastic has made a lasting impact on the societal conscious.
At GVA we are acuity aware of the impact the real estate sector has on climate change and have been striving to reduce our own estates impact and reduce the impact of our clients through best practice advice.
We have many success stories to be proud of over the past year:
• Raising over £240,000 for Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland through our fundraising campaigns, volunteering on many projects.
• Strengthening our fitout policy, reaffirming our commitment to the environment and a strong showing to the market of what we can also deliver for clients.
• Increasing our commitment to social value creation in our advice to clients and engagement across the industry by way of conference presentations, panel speaking and hosting events.
• Continuing to employ and empower a great workforce who are enthusiastic about their jobs and feel they can bring their whole self to the workplace. In the simplest sense we are a business which is about nurturing relationships and communities around the services we provide.
Our Corporate Responsibility is a large part of what makes GVA a great company to work with and this year we strived to push ourselves even further. We are proud of our achievements and look to continue this progress year on year.
At GVA we have a Corporate Responsibility Committee. Members are chosen due to their strategic roles within the business and their ability to positively shape the corporate responsibility agenda.
